Building monolithic movement technology is great significant to urban construction, urban planning, building renovation and the protect of ancient buildings in our country and has achieved remarkable economic, social and environmental benefits. But the effect of shift building to foundation is different from the static(under construction) building: instantaneous load, dynamic load, one large load, which determines that the foundation of shift building has its own mechanical characteristics.The original foundation is under the long-term role of upper load, so the settlement has stabilized. During the movement process, track foundation will generate new settlement due to force compression and consolidation. Among the various factors affecting the safety of the upper structure, the most important is the differential settlement in transition section of the new and old foundation(differential settlement of adjacent column foot). The settlement difference will not only generate additional internal forces in the upper structure of the shift buildings, but also cause cracking of structural members when exceeding the limit. Although the design and construction of building monolithic movement technology have been researched and discussed on many papers, it still relies on the experience of engineering and technical personnel mostly. A complete and mature design theory and construction methods have not been formed yet. Therefore, the study of settlement laws of foundation during the process of building movement and finding the right approach to ensure the safety of building are of great significance.Consider two factors to develop programs of track foundation design in transition section: First, the safety factor, that’s to ensure safety and reliability during shift process; the second is to do technical and economic analysis to reduce the cost in a safe and reliable premise as far as possibly.For the current situation, for the frame structure, using ANSYS finite element software to analyze the impact of track foundation height and width in natural ground to settlement. The results show that increasing the width and height of track foundation can reduce the settlement displacement process. A three-story and a four-story frame building are simulated, and the treatment and a perfect sectional size to control the differential settlement in transition section are found.The occurrence position of maximum settlement difference of adjacent column foot and the foundation settlement deformation trend of shift buildings of different height are also been analyzed.
