With the increasing pressure on urban traffic, more and more large and medium-sized cities will give priority to the development of urban rail transit as a way to ease traffic pressure. However, most of the rail traffic is running in an enclosed space, and its narrow space, dense population, fewer exits and entrances, long evacuation lines, there will be an enormous losses and serious consequences, once the unexpected situations happened. So, in order to reduce the casualties in emergent situations, evacuation from the station safely and effectively is an eternal topic. The paper is focused on passenger’s evacuation time, summarized the relevant literature home and abroad. Analyzing the types and features of the urban rail transit emergency. Summarizes the characteristics of various types of emergency situations, and compared with the computational result of "Specification for Design of Metro" and "NFPA 130:Tram and Passenger rail System Standard". Analyzing the direct effects of the speed, density, and flow. At the same time analyzing the indirect effects of the psychology and behavior and the site conditions. The paper discusses the traditional model of passenger evacuation from architecture and analyze its advantages and disadvantages. On the basis of the previous research, based on the actual situation of reality, analyzing the process of passengers getting off, evacuating from platform, walking on walkways, stairs and escalators respectively. Building a model of passenger evacuation time. Analyze the process of evacuation respectively and establish evacuation time model, so the model of the evacuation time is established. Lastly, analyzed and calculated the evacuation time, compared with the computational result of "Specification for Design of Metro" and "NFPA 130:Tram and Passenger rail System Standard", on the basis of traffic observation and measurements of the Beijing Xi zhi men station. The research core of this paper is to build a model of passenger evacuation time, for the "bottleneck area" under emergent conditions of urban rail transit station at different spatial environments. Then, analyze the process of passengers getting off, evacuating on platform, walking on walkways, stairs and escalators respectively, which can improve the efficiency of passenger flow evacuation from rail transit stations, enrich passenger flow safety evacuation theory, and provide a reference for the design, operational and organizational management of urban rail transit stations.
