As a new industry, smart home must continually meet the need of comfort, safety, convenience and high efficiency of users so that it can serve the society better and be accepted by the users. As an very important part of smart home, a better system that serves smart house is needed. With the development of the Internet, especially the development of mobile Internet, Android system as an excellent mobile end system, has been most widely accepted by most people for its strong data processing capability, rich user interface, openness and easy to develop, making applications running on Android platform much more convenient and practical than the softwares running on PC platform. At the same time, Automatic Speech Recognition develops rapidly, and all kinds of voice recognition software came out which makes it easy and interesting for people to communicate with machines. If we develop an application running on embedded equipment which runs Android system and the application can not only control smart home devices through the voice but also can communicate with the user, people will be very happy. Therefore, in order to enhance the user experience, it is very necessary to do a research on the embedded voice control system for smart home.In this paper, a voice recognition Android software is developed based on Unisound’s voice recognition cloud. An advanced Reduced Instruction Set Computer(RISC) machines(ARM) chip is adopted as the processor to embed Android system. When the wireless module which connects with the ARM development board by serial port receives signals, it will transmit signals out using Zigbee technology through which the voice recognition system can control appliances. The control system includes two parts by function, the Android voice recognition system and the data collection module. The former part is designed based on the Android operating system to meet the need of voice control; And the latter part is the use of Zigbee MCU to meet the need of controlling and feedback. The both two parts make the voice system.The embedded voice control system for smart home proposed in this paper is an alternative method for conventional methods of appliances control. It’s easy yo use and very cheap. In addition, the methods proposed in this paper can also be used in many other application areas.
