Traffic Safety Features And Security Technology Of Low-volume Rural Roads

In recent years, the urbanization and new rural construction of China have been rapid development, in order to promote the economic development of rural areas; the Chinese government in the rural roads construction investment is increasing continuously, so the rural roads have made great development. Besides more and more attention to the issues related to agriculture, rural areas, farmers, and introduced a series of preferential policies, the rapid development of transportation in rural areas, and the vehicle population increased year by year. However, at the beginning of the construction of rural roads, too much emphasis on quantity, while ignoring the problems of traffic safety, coupled with the continuous development of transportation in rural areas, which leading to the rural road safety problems highlighted, traffic accidents occur frequently. Because of the low volume and low road use rate, the low-volume rural roads can not get enough attention of management. On the other hand, its traffic safety features are different from some other high grade road, the applicability of existing security technology very low.In this paper, through the investigation on low-volume rural roads and statistical data of traffic accidents, from the type of accident, accident vehicles, the time of the accident and the accident time four aspects to analyze the traffic characteristics of low-volume rural roads, and summarize the traffic safety problems of low-volume rural roads. In addition, this paper from people, vehicles, roads, environmental analysis the traffic characteristics of low-volume rural roads, and find out the different characteristics with other high grade roads.This paper based on the analysis of low-volume rural road traffic safety features, combined with low-volume rural roads lack of traffic safety improvement funds, there is no applicable security technology, speeding serious, put forward the base on speed limit modified security technology. Paper establishes the speed model which combined the driver lane recognition distance, time, vehicle braking performance, road conditions. The model has been amended and application on water precipice sections, sharp sections, steep slope section. This paper based on the idea of the speed limit summarizes various security infrastructures for the low-volume rural roads.Finally, this paper according to the lack of funds in rural areas, and the choice of transportation security facilities must play the greatest effect, so this paper carries on the performance evaluation of the traffic safety facilities. In this paper, the transportation security facilities of the cost and benefit were analyzed and quantified, and through the ratio of cost and benefit to economic evaluation, to select the transportation security facilities.
