Rivet is a common way of mechanical connection, and it is widely used in connecting steel structure and parts of the railway vehicle. The screw-rivet, a new type, combines the features of bolt and general rivet, which is of the best capacity of shear, fatigue resistance and high clamping force, and it is also meet the requirements of the modern vehicle design comparing to the traditional rivet.The 3-D finite element model is established in this paper according to the actual screw rivet structure, and the ABAQUS finite element software is used to simulate the whole riveting process, the auto-tension fracture phenomenon of the rivet-tail and the influence of shear deform on the model. The elastic -plastic stresses and strains with their distribution and variation laws are studied, and the influence of different inner diameter of the squeeze head in the process of riveting is also discussed. Combining the actual of riveting process, the simulation analysis contains contact, fracture, shear deform and other complex mechanical problem. A rational calculation method is designed to solve the serious nonlinear problem in the process of simulation, which can guarantee the reliability of the results. According to the load spectrum of the railway vehicle, the displacement spectrum of the dangerous state is simulated in this paper, and the fatigue life of the rivet structure is predicted by the theory of Miner fatigue damage, based on the result of the above calculation.The riveting process of the new screw-rivet and the influence of the shear deform after forming are systematically analyzed in this paper.The theory and result of the numerical simulation have been proved by the actual production assembly. The research enrich the theory of railway vehicle riveting, and also provide a reference for the riveting technology, which possess a definite academic value and practical guiding significance.
