Ultrasonic motor is a new-type motor, which uses the converse piezoelectric effect of piezoelectric ceramic, the stator produces vibration by the effect of voltage, then through the friction between the stator and the rotor realizes conversion of electrical energy into mechanical energy, making the rotor produces rotating movements. Its distinguishing feature including simple structure, low speed and high torque, fast response speed, and no magnetic field interference etc. It has a broad application in Industrial control, car electric appliances, computer, intelligent robot and aerospace fields.This paper built the finite element contact model of the rotor and the stator based on the traveling wave rotary ultrasonic motor with double stators by the finite element method. And studies on its radial slippage, speed and torque. The main works are evidenced as follows:Firstly, the working principle, structure characteristics and application of the traveling wave rotary ultrasonic motor with double stators are introduced, and proposes the significance of this study according to the existing problems of the traveling wave rotary ultrasonic motors. And the current research, development status of the motor and the contact model is comprehensively discussed.Secondly, the mechanism of the traveling wave rotary ultrasonic motor with double stators is studied, and the converse piezoelectric effect of piezoelectric ceramic, Piezoelectric parameters, Piezoelectric equation and Vibration mode are systematically introduced.Thirdly, taking the stator which diameter is 60 mm as the study object. Doing modal analysis, harmonic analysis and transient analysis on it by ANSYS10.0. Frequency, vibration mode, amplitude and the Surface particle trajectories are obtained when the stator is vibrating.Finally, the finite element contact model of the traveling wave rotary ultrasonic motor with double stators is established, analyses of the impact of travelling wave come from two stator in different phase on radial slip phenomenon; and flexible design of rotor, with rigid rotor motor torque-speed characteristic is compared to reflect the advantages of flexible rotor; after that performance compared with conventional ultrasonic motor, the simulation results showed that double-stator rotary traveling wave type ultrasonic motor in terms of torque and performance has greatly improved.
