With the rapid development of global information technology, Building Information Modeling(BIM) has been well received among construction industry all over the world and arouses concern from more and more scholars of construction industry and engineering technicians since its advent. As a historic breakthrough of architectural digital technology, BIM technology runs through the whole lifecycle of the building and integrates all the information and data involved in different stages of the building to bring great convenience for the various stages such as design, execution, operation and management, etc. and improve the design efficiency and the completion quality of the project. Besides the pursuit of people’s demand for the use function and visual aesthetic feeling of interior space, modern interior design also faces challenges of the wisdom of science and technology, green energy saving and the sustainable development. BIM technology provides effective integration platform for interior design informatization development and will provide strong technical support for the progress of interior design.This paper discusses the development of BIM technology and its application research in interior design. Compared with the traditional computer aided design, BIM technology brings new design patterns for interior design. Visual expression of information effectively conveys the interior designer’s design concept. Parametric design enhances the efficiency of model-building to promote modular production of the interior design. Collaborative design redefined the design process, and real-time data summation of the professional information and efficient data management improve the design efficiency. Interior space green assessment seeks out the balance for comfortable living and sustainable ecology. In terms of construction guidance, BIM provides accurate assessment for pre-construction detection and can effectively avoid problems, such as pipeline conflict, equipment collision, etc. in the process of construction. BIM also has a huge contribution to auxiliary management and it improves the accuracy of project budget, controls costs to reduce unnecessary waste.Another important application of BIM technology in interior design is the ecological performance analysis of indoor living environment. Living environment ecological performance analysis has gradually become the focus of public attention and is the key comprehensive indicator of sustainable development. There are clear regulations on the ecological performance of constructions in many building codes in our country. This article mainly analyzes the application of BIM technology in indoor sunshine, day-lighting, air quality, acoustic environment, lighting and sight analysis, etc., and puts forward corresponding strategies, combined relevant application cases at home and abroad, aiming to highlight the feasibility and importance of BIM technology in indoor living environment ecological performance.This paper expounds a BIM case based on Autodesk Revit- the reconstruction project of FUDAO-ISEE wisdom building. It is verified theoretically from team construction, design analysis, BIM application practice plan to the establishment of digital information model on the basis of practice. In terms of interior ecological performance, there are applied researches of four aspects-- indoor sunshine simulation, indoor lighting, indoor air quality and indoor acoustic design and also some certain achievements are made. The author hopes that this research can provide similar projects in interior design with reference and thinking to promote BIM technology application research in interior design framework.
