Abstract/Summary:
Plot as a kind of narrative expression, is not limited by time, geography and culture, which can be found in literature, dramas, films, calligraphy, painting, as well as places inhabited by humans. People are very easy to forget the environment with similar using functions and internal features. Adding “plot” into the environment can make users produce association and get a feeling of special experience, thereby construction a memorable space which is difficult to forget. The author tires to carry out a correlation discussion on the relationship of the spatial structure of the classic private gardens(take the Master-of-Nets Garden as an example) in south of the Yangtze River and the existing “plots” inside it, so as to collect and sum up the space plots inside it. And if there is a possibility of applying the gardening approaches of the ancients, such as “combining emotions with scenery” and “feeling and setting happily blended, to the contemporary design, so as to create a landscape space with internal tension and logic. With these questions, the author starts the study.Based on the reading and study of books related to architectural space, Chinese classic gardens, plot doctrine and landscape design, the author summarizes the following vies in the second chapter: firstly, space is surrounded by solid materials, which is a three dimensional space with certain functions. Secondly, the unit space of Chinese classical private gardens has a characteristic of complexity. Thirdly, the creative concept of plot: life requires story, and story cannot lack of plot. Fourthly, the plot is the link for people to experience the space, and the plot connects and arranges the unit space of Chinese classical private gardens into a form with internal tension and logic. In Chapter III and Chapter IV, the author starts from the historical materials, carrying out an analysis of the historical plots of the development of the Master-of –Nets Garden; and then it starts from experience again, conducting a study on the cultural plots in the Master-of – Nets Garden, and then it finds the reclusion theme expressed by the garden, as well as digging deeply the three major story lines of “Yuyin”, “Part work” and “Conviviality”. The fourth chapter focuses on the relationship between the arrangement and path of plot, due to the complexity of path as well as the randomness of visitors’ choice, it comes to the conclusion: various plots develop interlaced and non-continuous.Finally, the author hopes to provide a new way of thinking for integrating plot into landscape design according to the interpretation and analysis of the plot of the Master-of –Nets Garden in this paper.
