With the traditional anti-seismic methods being gradually superseded by new technique of energy dissipation, many different kinds of energy dissipation equipment are coming out one by one and using for some practical structure engineering. when an earthquake happens, the equipment can offer damping resistance by interaction with the main structure. thus decrease earthquake energy and avoid the main structure turning up to overlarge deformation, or being toppled.Viscous Dampers and Tuned Mass Dampers(TMD) are the most representative vibration control device. Although domestic and overseas scholars have gained plenty of achievements about the energy dissipation effect of Viscous Dampers or TMD acting on structures by doing lots of experiments and research, but a study like that using both of them(we name it Assorted Dampers) to lower the structural vibration is very rare. This text use a common software called Sap2000,which is usually used for structural analysis, setting up a 15-storey steel frame model with diagonal bracing, and take its responses( include the displacement of each storey,each story drift, inter laminar shear and so on) as result of this study, then analyze the damping effect on the steel frame structure of Viscous Dampers 、 TMD and Assorted Dampers respectively. Finally, we can deduce these dampers’ characters which may provide a reference for more deeper level research in the future.In this paper, Firstly, I briefly narrated the structural vibration control theory and the development of the steel frame structure, and introduced Viscous Dampers and TMD including theirs basic structure、genre、mechanical model and operating principle. Linkage unit material nonlinearity are only taken into account in this article, without regarding to structure geometric nonlinearity or frame plastic hinge,so we select and use Fast Nonlinear Analysis(FNA) method, which iterative equation has a faster rate of convergence, to analyze the steel frame structure with different kinds of dampers. Secondly, I operate the model in Sap2000 for the sake of finding out the structure vibration performance(period and frequency), so that I can layout dampers reasonably. Next, appropriate seismic waves are chosen and imported to the frame mode with or without dampers, then I contrast the time procedure analysis result and get each damper’ characters. In order to find the most reasonable combination of the two different dampers, I have done lots of study onthe compound mode. Finally, we choose other seismic waves to verify the result we have reached.The result indicated that viscous dampers which are set on intermediate floor may effectively decrease the deformation of these floors, while TMD, which is set on the top of the whole structure, can control the displacement of the floors upside very well. When we use both of them to control the vibration reaction of steel frame structure, viscous dampers and TMD can give play to their owe advantages and effectively work together and bring out more obvious damping effect.
