Earthquake as a natural phenomenon, its occurrence will not change because ofthe human factor. The disaster it caused own the characteristics of large scale, suddenand destructive. Practice shows that, secondary disasters caused by the earthquake andthe collapse of the housing are the main reason that causing casualties and economiclosses. With the development of economy, fast speed of the city construction, buildingas bamboo shoots after a spring rain generally rises straight from the ground, a greatmany people shuttle back and forth among of them. Once the earthquake comes, itsdisasters are enormous, such as happened in recent years in our country’s earthquakes(Jiujiang earthquake, Wenchuan earthquake, Yaan earthquake etc.).So study theseismic performance of buildings has become so important.When the earthquake occurred, the structure vibration response caused byground’s vibration, structure received a large number of seismic energy, and only haveto convert or dissipate that can it terminate the vibration response. As allow structuresand bearing members (such as columns, beams and nodes) damaged in the earthquake,the damage process called the "energy dissipation”. This process will end up withdamage, severe damage or even collapse of the structure and component. Such thisinflexible energy dissipation style is a passive anti-seismic method, does not have theself adjustment and self control ability. The rational and effective anti-seismic methodis install control system on the structure, use the control system and the structure itselfto bear seismic, to regulate and reduce the seismic response of structure. Structuralvibration control system according to whether need external energy input can bedivided into passive, active, semi-active, intelligent and hybrid control. Energydissipation as the control engineering technology in a passive way has changed thetraditional anti-seismic structure by "resist" seismic method, reduce the earthquakeresponse of the structure by means of "flexible energy dissipation of the way", Theprinciple is that design some component of structure into energy dissipationcomponent or install energy dissipater in some part of the structure (e.g.: node or link)This paper summarized the design method of energy dissipation, structureanalysis, design steps and key points. Introduced a12story reinforced concrete framestructure as the research object, first by using the PKPM design software to build a finite element mode to analysis its capability and then established the layout ofviscous dampers model and none viscous dissipation by the finite element softwareETABS, respectively in the structure from the earthquake cycle, displacement anglebetween floors, the floor shear, drift, column end shear parameters as the controlobjective to compare their respective response in different seismic state. Finally foundthe control effect which installed viscous dissipation structure to response to seismicis better than the uninstalled viscous dissipation structure.
