Pavement Preventive Maintenance (PMP) is defined as the planned strategy of cost-effective treatments to an existing roadway system.SMA-5 are the asphalt of maximum nominal size of 4.75 mm hoof fat macadam mixture, that is an effective ordinary thin layer surface technology. At first,according to different grade or if add lignin fiber,we put the SMA-5 asphalt mixture in many groups and do the experiments research,the change of volume index law and SMA-5 asphalt mixture’s material composition and the basic performance. Then from the performance of SMA-5 asphalt mixture’s, using the method of Bailey, the new testing method and theoretical analysis, in the pivotal technology problems of the designment of mix proportion such as raw materials selection, gradation of SMA-5 for the design and adjustment method, the specimen of molding method, index and volume of the performance of the mixture ratio design of technical requirements are of systematic study. Finally using the uniaxial penetration shear test and SPT basic asphalt mixture performance test, analysis are applied to the Dynamic mechanical properties such as SMA-5 shearing properties of asphalt mixture, the dynamic modulus, as well as number of flows, and the results show that the SMA-5 has good pavement and mechanical properties. So the conclusions are valuable in theory and helpful to the popularity and application of preventive maintenance engineering.
