For the wind farm located in the alpine and clammy regions, blade-icing is one of the leading cause for outage unplanned, but there is not a mature and reliable automatic de-icing system currently. In order to achieve the automatic de-icing for wind turbine blade, the index of ice detection and the control logic of de-icing are researched firstly, then a system which possesses the function of ice detection and de-icing online is designed based on LabVIEW.Firstly, in this dissertation, a 1000 mm blade made of glass fiber material is set as the experimental object, and the different state of wind turbine blade-icing is simulated by an artificial way. Then the modal shapes and related data of the icing blade is obtained by modal analysis. After that, based on the mind that the change of blade modal curvature due to the blade-icing and the information fusion of multi-modal shapes, a set of suitable quantitative indicators for diagnosing the position and thickness of blade-icing is extracted, and the study results show that the method is accurate. In the end, relevant functional modules of ice detection are developed by using the Math Scrip node to call Matlab program based on the LabVIEW.Secondly, based on the theory of ultrasonic de-icing, the order of de-icing which alongs the reverse blade is confirmed after analyzing the outside force and the vibration mode of wind turbine blade operating in engineering practice. In the article, the control signal of de-icing is extracted based on the theory of ice detection, the principle of statistics and the modal of on-off, then relevant functional modules of de-icing are developed based on the LabVIEW and Modbus. After analyzing several main design patterns in LabVIEW from the perspective of data flow, the producers-consumers construct based on conditional and the static single construct are selected to integrate data collecting system, ice detection system and de-icing system.Finally, with the help of artificial environment laboratory, an experimental platform is designed and constructed which is used to simulate the experiment of ice detection and de-icing for wind turbine blade. Based on the research results above, the debugging of the software system and the experimental platform system is did, and then the experimental results show that the system is stable and accurate. In the end, the integrated system is verified under the condition of blade-icing by an artificial way. In the course of the experiment, the results of ice detection system, the action of de-icing system and the phenomenon of ultrasonic de-icing are observed peculiarly, which indicates the system is reliable.
