At present, researches on the ATB design methods seldom, the existing asphalt mixture design methods are not well balanced relationship between the each road performance, a better road performance may lead to corresponding road performance is poor, from ATB comprehensive performance to researche ATB design method has great significance for the construction and building of the highway in heavy traffic. This paper base on study, through laboratory test analysis ATB comprehensive performance affect factors, and studied ATB design method that base on comprehensive performance.Theoretical analysis of the disease phenomenon of asphalt pavement, including rutting, low temperature cracking, water damage and reflective cracking, study the mechanism of the disease and influence factors. Proposed ATB should have comprehensive technical characteristics. Theoretically comparative analysis of test methods of asphalt road performance, through test select appropriate test method and performance evaluation on ATB mix high, low temperature and water stability, and proposed reflective cracking test methods and evaluation on ATB.Through test analysis of the impact that coarse and fine ratio on ATB comprehensive performance, based on the relationship between coarse and fine ratio with ATB comprehensive performance, balance of road performance, it is recommended when coarse and fine ratio in 62/38 to 71/29, ATB meet all the technical requirements.On the basis of tests, analyze the impact of different asphalt, filler-bitumen ratio and asphalt film thickness on ATB comprehensive performance. It is recommend that ATB mix design usually selected SBS modified bitumen, filler-bitumen ratio is 1.0 to 1.2 and asphalt film thickness take 11μm to 9μm; If should have better high-temperature performance suggested to use low-grade asphalt or SBS modified asphalt, filler-bitumen ratio is 1.2 to 1.4 and asphalt film thickness take lOum to 9μm; Cold regions suggested use high-grade asphalt or SBS modified asphalt,filler-bitumen ratio is 0.8 to 1.0 and asphalt film thickness take 11μm to 10μm.Using shear strength, flexural tensile strain and comprehensive crack resistance to determine optimum asphalt content, graded design, determine the amount of asphalt and performance verification to present ATB design method that base on comprehensive performance.
