For the time being, the energy shortage and environmental pollution problems are attracted attention widely over the world. Energy conservation, environmental protection and sustainable economic development has become China’s basic national policy. Low energy efficiency and economic efficiency is the main problem of energy, which asking us to improve the energy efficiency and economic benefits as the main direction and trends about our research. Heating energy consumption in northern China accounted for 20% of total heating energy consumption, therefore transforming the central heating system and improving the utilization of energy efficient of heating systems has important significance on energy saving and environmental protection.In this paper, we take centralized heating system transformation of Jinan Heating Ltd. as the research object.Due to shortage source of heating, heating steam consumption in winter and high operating costs in certain area of Jinan, we further investigated the pipe network operation of the central heating in certain Area and the utilization technology of waste heat of other mills and analyzes the automatic control theory and the feasibility of the transformation of the original system. In early 2014,the company implemented the renovation project of the heat transfer station reconstruction and the intelligent control scheme of entire heating system. Through summarizing the distribution and Utilization Status of steel waste heat, the company takes the factory low temperature waste heat as a heat source and has the waste heat of slag water, primary cooler and absorption heat pump extraction combined heating.Through installing the mixing pump in the original heat station to carry out transformation of mixing water,which reducing the circulating water flow in the first heating network, reducing power consumption and increasing the temperature difference between supply and return water to 20 in the secondary network, improving the heating capacity.In addition, this paper introduces the basic structure of intelligent control of heating systems and conducts a comprehensive research and analysis about the functions of Intelligent Control System. After the completion of the transformation of project, the results of the operational status of the 2013-2014 heating season and data analysis show that the optimized renovation of heat station and the intelligent control scheme of heating system are feasible, the transformation is simple and reliable, the system runs well, the satisfaction of heating system user is high and the investment recovery period is short. This transformation not only improves the utilization of low temperature waste heat, reducing pollutant emissions and pollution of the environment, but also to bring huge economic and social benefits.
