With the popularity of the automobile and the accelerated pace of life, people have become increasingly dependent on Vehicles in their daily lives. Requirements for on-board IVI (In-Vehicle Infotainment) systems regarded as central neurons of the car are naturally no longer satisfied with traditional CD/DVD player, GPS positioning and other simple functions. The current infotainment systems have taken plenty of pressure which is forcing automobile manufacturers and their suppliers looking for a kind of standardization and lower-cost infotainment solutions, and it should be able to quickly adjust and update.Firstly, based on in-depth analysis of IVI systems and feature requirements for IVI systems, on this paper the author make attempt to summarize the common problems of current infotainment systems, such as non-open source platform, not-well scalability, not rich multimedia entertainment and so on. Secondly, according to the research of mainstream embedded operation system and key technologies, Android platform is elected to build AIVIPLUS infotainment system which is based on plug-in architecture. Apart from having the features of Android platform, AIVIPLUS system supports plug and play which increases the multimedia functionality and Debugability of infotainment system. Thirdly, by focusing on flow description of media player and implementation of it on AIVIPLUS system, this paper demonstrates the feasibility of reconstructing IVI system based on Android platform. Finally, a comparative analysis on multimedia capabilities of specific cases is introduced between AIVIPLUS system and native Android system.
