With the continuous development of railway undertakings, the task to prevent off-road casualties become more important, especially for railway line which has bridges, tunnels and crossings. The traditional prevention methods only isolate railway road and set railings at major intersections. But with the development of local economy and speed up of train, there are other methods emerged such as build overpass, beneath tunnel and build bridges. These measures are not only a huge investment, but also a huge project and a longer duration. So it will have good practical value to design an intelligent reliable and real-time alarm system for railway transportation. This system can give an alarm signal when train will arrive in key region of road injury to warn pedestrians keeping away from the railway and ensure the safety.The alarm system in this article consists of three parts:the transmitter, the receiver and the server. The transmitter device uses GPS module to get current coordinates and speed of train, and transmits information through GPRS communication module automatically to the server. By default, if the train reaches warning area, the server automatically sends alarm information via GPRS communication module to the receiver and the transmitter. If the received alarm information is correct, they should return a confirmation message to the server immediately and wakeup appropriate operations such as opening alarm voice and light. The system ties three parts close together through communication on network. Three parts cooperate with each other and give feedbacks, thus ensuring the system is highly centralized and has good reliability and stability. In the process of implementation three parts are designed and tested separately. This strategy simplifies the problem and isolates the faulty transmission.From the system’s overall structure, the key factor that the entire system can successfully applied to actual railway line is the reliable and efficient communication of the three parts. However, as the speed up of train in recent years, there are higher requirements about precise positioning and data communication delay processing. And train lines stretch thousands of miles across cities and mountains, this greatly tests interference and stability of data transmission signals. In this paper, taking consideration of the special environmental conditions and application requirements, we design and implement a protocol solution. The protocol uses the idea of a layered protocol model and has network protocols for network transmission and control protocol for controlling terminal. The two layers are independent and have a good flexibility. The structure can be divided easily thus it’s easy to implement and maintain with certain extensibility. And the protocol contains information related to the alarm prediction in advance, either used in the adjuvant test when data are available, or when data is invalid can also use to automatically calculate warning information, thus ensuring reliable communication of the system.Due to system’s high requirements about reliability, and in order to have more in-deep research about the system’s behavior, this paper uses Petri net which is an important tool in studying on system’s reliability to do some research. Petri nets focus on the state of the system and can be widely used in complex systems design and analysis. Rail road injury prevention alarm system communication failure may occur is a typical dynamic behavior process, Petri nets have structured graphical expression, reasoning, rapid search and diagnostic process of mathematical advantages when used for fault diagnosis. In order to provide the foundation and guarantee for high reliability protocol, this article uses Petri nets to describe and analyze the dynamic behavior of railway alarm system process, and thus authenticate the system’s security protocol and give the analysis reports.In the end, this paper presents analysis reports about the system used in practical application of the railway line. The results show that the system has achieved good performance.
