With large population constantly swarming into cities since reform and opening up, cities has witnessed rapid expansion. Although developing fast, the present traffic system still can’t catch up with the pace of urbanization. Traffic in traditional sense fails to meet the present traffic needs. Hence, subway traffic is undergoing comprehensive development, which will solve the traffic pressure problems from the fundamental way. It is a complicated project to construct subways in a city, because various factors need to be considered. As a major construction method in the development process of urban subway, shallow tunneling method should be taken into consideration in terms of problems during the construction process, such as uneven surface settlement during construction process, influence of buildings surrounding the tunnel and various underground pipes and wires. These factors may lead to unpredictable engineering accidents during the construction of subways, or even life and financial losses of residents living above the subway. Hence, when using shallow tunneling method, people should give full consideration to its influence.In the background of practical engineering Zhengzhou No. 1 Subway, this thesis employed theoretical analysis, on-site monitoring and ANSYS data analysis to carry out researches about influencing factors and deformation rules of tunneling settlement which was caused by shallow tunneled urban subway, as well as deformation rules and monitoring method of soil body above the entrance and exit. Major research outcomes of this thesis are as follows:(1) Analyze influencing factors of surface settlement which was caused by shallow tunneled urban subway.(2) Come up with reasonable monitoring solution and finish on-site investigation.Use on-site investigation data to research surface deformation rules.(3) Use finite element numerical analysis for simulation. Research the influence of tunneling depth and tunnel diameter of the entrance and exit of Huanghe East Road Station on settlement during the tunneling process so as to guide the design andconstruction of tunnels.(4) Analyze influencing factors and rules of tunneling settlement by simulating tunneling process of CRD method, which could be reference for future construction.(5) Analyze influencing factors of the construction method used in entrance and exit tunneling of Huanghe East Road Station of Zhengzhou No. 1 Subway. Adopt finite element simulation method to conduct reasonable optimizations of the entrance and exit. Find out factors that possibly influence surface settlement and offer instructions to on-site construction.
