"Twelfth Five Year" plan of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region highway mileage will exceed 6000 km. The territory of Inner Mongolia is covered by grassland, so the expansion of road is inevitable across the prairies. And this is also formed the unique characteristics of the landscape and the prairie highway alignment. The prairie highway is characteristic by small longitudinal slope; large curve radius, with long and straight line, small linear change and single landscape. So the driver drives the process operation with low conversion rate. The quiet state of irrationality and boring, no stimulation of the driving task will make the driver fatigue. The continuous implementation of the driving task, the local muscle in the static force condition, resulting in driver fatigue, and the work efficiency is low, the operation speed is slow, movement coordination and flexibility reduces the error probability and make the accident rate arise. The study shows that physical fatigue driving ergonomics is the main process of driver fatigue. The paper aims at the characteristics of prairie highway, based on real driving on the basis of experiments, and uses of physiological index reflecting the driver’s muscle fatigue, combines with questionnaire. Data collection and analysis of local muscle surface electromyography signal driver, in-depth study of the prairie highway driver fatigue characteristics. On this basis, the establishment of grassland in the process of driving the local muscle fatigue model. The research to enrich and improve our country highway traffic specification, improvement and optimization of prairie highway alignment, performance, reduce driver fatigue and has a strong practical significance to enhance traffic safety and improve the grassland road.Application of surface electromyography and analysis of prairie highway fatigue driver make the following conclusions.(1) The driver’s waist and shoulder driving median frequency is independent of driving speed the in the prairie road, and it has a negative correlation with driving time.(2) With the extension of time the driver driving the muscle power spectrum showed that spectrum shift left, it shows us that the driver is fatigue.(3) To establish the prairie highway driver shoulder muscle fatigue model.(4) To establish the prairie highway drivers lumbar muscle fatigue model(5) To confine the prairie highway driving fatigue is in 40min in the process of starting time, and deeper fatigue is in 75min.(6) The subjective questionnaire survey is verify the driving fatigue. Statistical analysis of fatigue level demonstrates the importance of the local muscle fatigue.
