Evaluation And Strategy Of The Campus-front Space Present Situation In Urban Primary School

A special phenomenon often appear in the front of urban elementary schools, which gathered a large stock of shuttles and shuttle vehicles in the campus-front space after school and that make the traffic almost paralyzed. A lot of parents congestion on the sidewalk space,non motor vehicle parking disorderly,which make the function losing in the sidewalk. The vehicles picked random and occupied non-motor vehicle lanes in the side of the road. From these senses,a conclusion can be summarized that the function of campus-front space has been disappeared during the urbanization and automobile increased.Campus-front Space in the urban elementary school is a area surrounding the main entrance of primary school campus,which is a interactive overlap space between cities and campuses. The spatial planning and the traffic organization in campus-front space should be assort with the development of urban spatial and transportation form.However, the attention always be focused on the overall campus plan and architectural design in the beginning of campus plans,and ignore the planning of special space-campus front space,which should be considered comprehensive with the urbanization and the transportation development.That cause the problem of the function losing in campus front space.From this paper, campus-front space of the urban elementary school has be taken as an object in this research.Firstly, the urban elementary school research scope has been instructed and the special phenomenon of shuttle in the urban elementary school has been described.The concept and institutions of campus-front space has been analyzed and the behaviors and characteristics of the people who was activity in the place has been explained at the same time.Secondly,the location of campus and urban has been analyzed form the angle of development relationship between city and campus.Then, the combination between campus and city has been interpreted and contrast with similar space,such as the front square of train station,the front space of the hospital,the campus-front space in university and so on.The causation in the back of society has been found out after comparing with the mode of attending school in other countries,as in American and in Japan. After the objective research and analysis about the numerous of urban elementary schools in Wuxi,the author has described and analyzed the problems of the campus-front space from the angle of spatial planning, traffic organization.Last, strategies has been proposed from the spatial planning, the planning of temporary parking area and the traffic organization,which in order to solve the problem of campus-front space in urban elementary school and look forward to receive significant mitigation effects.
