Pin components collector is used to collect magnetism components that falling on the ground,especially in small and narrow space,which has a strong practicability. For this kind of product structure design, traditional design methods have a lot faults, such as, wasting time and energy, designing with blindness. While, the appears of optimal design theory offers some help for relieving those deficiency. Optimal design theory could offer a better design for the specific goal, which not only significantly shorten design cycle but also decrease material wastage.Based on optimal design theory, this paper divided the pin components collector into several specific design goal, such as, driving system and steering mechanism. After explore demands of these design goals, paper integrated use of UG、MATLAB software to accomplish the design goals.Collector’s driving plan has a very important affect on the whole design scheme.After compared different driving plans’ advantages and disadvantages, the paper choose suitable drive plan and further determined the whole design scheme. When coming to the specific design goals, this paper established mathematical model of driving system and steering mechanism based on practical requirement and write the relevant algorithmic program in MATLAB to get the optimal solution. Besides, the paper improve the structure of steering mechanism and differential belong to driving system to make the collector work well satisfy with the demand.The paper used the motion simulation technology to verify reasonability of the structure. Concretely speaking, paper used UG to establish parts’ 3D models and assemble them to carry on motion simulation. During the process of motion simulation,paper studied whether the maximum rotary angle meet demand and whether steering mechanism work smooth.In conclusion, the paper comprehensively applied optimal design theory and motion simulation technology for accomplishing the design goal.
