Based on ‘energy utilization across time and space’, seasonal ice storage air conditioning technology stores ice that formed by the natural and the cold conditions for the coming summer as the cold source of the air conditioning system. It is a cold source utilization technology by full using of the time-domain characteristics of natural climatic.Considering energy conservation, environmental protection and sustainable development, it has important significance that explores the application of seasonal ice storage technology for air conditioning system. Compared with conventional air conditioning systems, seasonal ice storage air conditioning technology has many new features. Based on the shortage of land resources, this paper analyzes the system’s cool energy balance and the technical suitability and environmental benefit of the seasonal ice storage air conditioning technology for different buildings in different regions. And it provides a reference for development of seasonal ice storage air conditioning technology in China. Main research contents:(1) According to the shortage of land resources and the local climate conditions, explore the sources and storage sites of the cold. Analysis shows that: according to each region’s climate and other natural conditions, combining collecting ice and snow and making ice by heat pipe and put them under the ground is the best cold energy storage solution.(2) Establish an unsteady-state heat transfer mathematical model for cylindrical underground storage, and calculate the cold energy loss rate of storage period. According to the system’s running principle, analyzes the system’s cool energy balance. Get the relationships between underground storage’s geometric parameters and the cold energy loss rate, and thus obtain the method of determining the best geometric parameters.(3) In different regions, climatic conditions and natural cold resource can be quite different. Present the index of climate adaptability and the specific ice storage amount as the criteria that judge the applicability of regional climate and building types for seasonal ice storage technology. And the natural cold resources of Harbin, Changchun, Shenyang, Hohhot, Urumqi, Xining and Lhasa are more than air conditioning cold consumption and these places are most suitable for the development of seasonal ice storage technology. For four building types, the applicability order of seasonal ice storage technology is: Villas Building > Stadium Building > Office Building> Mall Building.(4) Based on the above analysis, translate the annual energy savings of seasonal ice storage air conditioning system into standard coal consumption(primary energy consumption). Comparative analyze the energy saving and environment benefits between the seasonal ice storage system and conventional ice storage system. And use the melt water into gardens and agricultural irrigation in autumn. The results show that: Compared with conventional electric refrigeration air conditioning systems and ice storage air conditioning system, the seasonal ice storage air conditioning system has significant energy savings and environmental benefits.
