With the development of economy, the land resource has beening stress, more and more additional storey and renovation of existing buildings, injuries and property loss caused by the frequent earthquake. Thus, for both building transformation on the damping technology is very necessary. Buckling- restrained brace used as a new type of damping technology, with the characteristics of clear stress 、 convenient construction 、 environment protection and energy saving and so on, having been successfully used in the actual engineering.Firstly, the development process and damping technology of added-story structure has been introduced in this article. Secondly, the article introduces the related theoretical knowledge and technical points of damping technology, including the principle of shock absorption 、vibration analysis method ect. Thirdly, based on a six story reinforced concrete-steel frame added-storey structure, through the arrangement of a certain number of buckling-restrained brace, based on six various support arrangement,by using MIDAS/GEN which it as a finite element analysis software, to establish models, which include the original structure、the added-story structure and setting buckling-restrained brace’s added-story structure, choosing El-centro wave 、 Taft wave and artificial wave to simulate the earthquake action,respectively started the elastic time history and the elastic-plastic time history.Analysising the interlayer displacement of the structure、the interlayer displacement angle and maximum interlaminar force, and optimizing the support arrangement scheme, drawing the research results have a certain reference value of engineering are as follows:(1)Under the effect of more severe earthquake, compared with the original increasing structure, setting buckling-restrained brace’s adding story reduced the natural vibration period; story drift has differently decreased, especially the story,which the buckling-restrained brace were, decreased more obviously.(2)Buckling-restrained brace to the part of adding story’s damping effect moreobvious, but to the original structure’s seismic response even increased, but on the whole, improves the hybrid structure’s seismic behavior.(3)Buckling-restrained brace different layout scheme under severe earthquake’s damping effect of the difference is obvious, the determination of the most optimal support arrangement is very important.
