Column-Plate Hollow Pier is a new type structure form has adopted in recent bridge designs, and environmental exposure to complex climatic conditions such as solar radiation, cold wave, air temperature variation and other actions induces detrimental temperature effects in concrete hollow pier. However, the regulations on the temperature field and temperature effects is focused on the superstructure currently, and little study has been made to the pier. Therefore, it should be tested and researched for Column-Plate Hollow Pier about the temperature field and temperature effects.This dissertation takes the 5# pier of Zongmugou Bridge as the research background. Combine the data of the temperature field through observation, the paper specifically analyzes the effects of Column-Plate Hollow Pier induced by solar radiation and cold wave. In this dissertation, the main contents and results are as follows:(1) Select the representative data of the field observed in summer and winter respectively, plot the temperature curve, and analyze the variation of temperature over time and along the thickness of the wall and along the height direction of the pier;(2) Assume that temperature difference distribution along the wall thickness direction is an exponential curve. The recommended parameter values of temperature gradient for Column-Plate Hollow Pier is proposed by using function fitting method to analyze the measured results, which suitable for the climate conditions in the Northwest or similar to that of the Northwest. Moreover, it shows that the parameter values is reasonable though error analysis;(3) Compute thermodynamic parameters reversely from the measured data of the temperature field. Reference the research data both at home and abroad, the parameter values for thermal-structural analysis is calculated;(4) Based on the measured data and the code, the temperature load is determinate reasonably. Using 3D transient thermal- structure coupling analysis in ANSYS FEM program, it is analyzed the temperature field and temperature stress of the pier influenced by solar radiation and cold wave, and obtains the temperature stress distribution laws of the pier.
