A Landscape Study On The West Lake Scenic Area In Hangzhou Ancient Springs

Hangzhou is a city with much water as well as many springs which are not only historic but alsovarious. In the meantime, the strong characteristics of its region, history and culture manifestHangzhou’s cultural features and its unique trait, enriching the cultural deposits and the connotation ofHangzhou city.Ancient springs as researching objet, this paper generalizes the traits of ancient springs, refines therelationship between ancient springs and four factors of landscape and summarizes its protectionstrategies and development direction of Hangzhou ancient springs through classifying ancient andmodern literatures, investigating existing springs and probing into the examples of landscape, combinedwith analysis on the formation, development of ancient springs, integrate of ancient springs andlandscape factors, facing crisis of current situation of ancient springs as well as inheritance anddevelopment of ancient springs thus providing some basic data for Hangzhou ancient spring research,making some proposals for protecting and inheriting ancient springs effectively so people can make agreat contribution to more researches on city ancient springs. Followings are research contents andresults.Firstly,the generates, development and distribution of Hangzhou ancient springs are analyzedsystematically. Based on features of ancient springs, its history is divided into five times----Before theQin Dynasty, Han Dynasty to the Five Dynasties,Song to Ming mid,late Ming and Qing Dynasty andthe Republic of China. The number and distribution of ancient springs are summarized and analyzedaccording to the exploration from lithological and tectonic aspects.Secondly, the relationship between ancient springs and landscape factors are focused. Thecharacteristics of landscape art of Hangzhou ancient springs are under depth analysis from the followingfour areas: a combination of ancient springs and structures、a combination of ancient springs withanimals and plants、a combination of ancient springs and road、a combination of ancient springs andculture.Thirdly, multi-angle and diversification solutions and recommendations are proposed andpractical cases’ impact on modern garden construction is probed.Lastly, the conclusions are summarized and the prospect are put forward. The innovation and lack aboutthis research is put out,simultaneously, the future work and research direction are explored.
