Construction Of Greenway Network For West Lake Scenic Area

As a national scenic area, a World Cultural Heritage site of West Lake, West Lake Scenic Areaplays a mainstay role in the tourism industry in Hangzhou. With the rapid development of tourism inHangzhou, more and more tourists are visiting the West Lake Area, which leads to the serious ecologicalresources destruction. From the perspective of the greenway network thought，this paper focuses on thestudy of West Lake Scenic Area, put forward the view of constructing the overall protection ofGreenway Network.According to theoretical and practical research on greenway network of domestic scenic areas, thepaper analyzes inadequate greenway planning theory to protect scenic area resources, and summarizethe general method of the greenway network building of scenic areas, which broadening the researchfield of scenic areas. The status of investigation and analysis in the West Lake scenic area resources,AHP and other methods of connecting trails and scenic landscape resources to evaluate the selectedlines, this paper proposes the view of constructing the overall protection of greenway network. Itfacilitates the coordination and development of scenic protection, and promote the healthy andsustainable development of tourism in West Lake Scenic Area, which contains a guiding significance forthe theory and practice of scenic areas to build the future greenway network.First of all, based on lots of literature and practice, this paper defines greenway, greenway network,scenic area and explain the concept, classification, characteristics of the West Lake scenic areagreenway network. Departure from the basic discipline of landscape ecology, linear landscape designtheory, organic evacuation theory, heritage protection theory and the theory of sustainable tourismdevelopment, this paper discusses scenic area greenways network about building steps, constructionprinciples, line selection and evaluation planning elements.Secondly, through the resources investigation and the situation analysis of nine scenic in West LakeScenic Area, this paper points out three major problems that the traffic pressure overload, unbalancedusing of resources, the impact of modernization. It explains the importance of constructing West LakeScenic Area greenway network for protect West Lake scenic resources, improve the quality of recreationactivities and promote the of tourism development.Finally, on the basis of basic theories and present situation investigations, this paper carries out demonstration with the examples of construction of greenway network for West Lake Scenic Area. Byridging the host planning, the goal and principle of construction is determined. The West Lake arevaluated from the landscape resource type and connection trail. Then this paper builds the naturalcological greenway, the recreational leisure greenway and the cultural heritage greenway. According tohe the mountains and Jiangnan features characteristics, the paper constructs the characteristic ridge typereenway and the water greenway as the auxiliary greenway. To determine the overall layout of West akescenic area, and further expounds the implementation difficulties and security measures.
