Solar chemical adsorption refrigeration is a refrigerating method using clean solarenergy as a heat source dive. General refrigeration can’t be comparable to this kindrefrigeration in terms of the advantages in environmental protection and energy saving.However, the existed defective heat and mass transfer performance of adsorption bedextend the cooling time and decrease the refrigeration effect, which restrain theextensive use of solar chemical adsorption refrigeration. Current domestic research inthe improvement of refrigeration efficiency is concentrated on three aspects: heat andmass transfer process improvement, the cycles of adsorption refrigeration study andthe adsorption bed structure optimization.Solar chemical adsorption refrigeration referred in this paper installs a troughsolar collector system as energy source. Adsorbent Calcium chloride/expandedgraphite and freezing medium ammonia are applied to absorption cooling workingpairs. Self-designed Finned tube adsorption bed is used as adsorption bed. The mainworks of this paper are summarized as follows.(1) In order to avoid the agglomeration and expansion of Calcium chloride,expanded graphite and Calcium chloride were mixed together to improve the heat andmass transfer performance of the adsorbent.(2) FLUENT was designed to simulate the heat transferring process. Absorptionstructure and chemical reaction procedure analyzed the characteristics of thetransferring process of absorption bed, the rule of temperature rising and the process ofammonia generation to optimize the design of absorption bed.(3) Absorption bed prototype was product to make an assessment of the valuesimulation reliability by the comparison between experimental data and the simulationdata of FLUENT (4) Make a simulation and analyze for Solar trough systems. Calculating the solarradiation intensity in Qingdao and making a simulation analysis for solar collectortubes via FLUENT, the temperature distributions of trough type solar energy wascollected.This study provided a feasible research methods for the study of Solar chemicaladsorption refrigeration and supplied a theoretical gist for later the experimentalresearch of absorption bed.
