Research On Regional Characteristics Of The Traditional Street Space In Nanning City

Street bears the city’s material and cultural circulation, is the vessel and skeletonof city. As an important component of city public space, city street space playsirreplaceable role in promoting communication of city culture,beautifying cityenvironment,creating city culture characteristics and meeting residents’ publicassociation. Because of the difference regional characteristics, different city’s streetreflects different spatial characteristics. During the development of modern city, someof these characteristics are under protection and heritage; some have been broken andrestored owing to natural or human factors. Due to the problems of modern citydevelopment, city street space’s form and function have changed, and as different cityhave different regional features, street space’s formation and development influencedby natural geographical factors such as climate,topography and geomorphology andhuman geographical factors such as historical context and national culture. Thus, formdistinct property with regional differences. City Historic District is the witness ofhistory memory. During the process of rapidly urbanization, many cities’ HistoricDistrict lose their energy gradually, so they have to disappeared or renovation. In theprocess, whether the original space form and history cultural values can be kept or nothas become a serious problem of modern city space’s planning.This thesis introduces street space’s formation history and evolution process.Through field survey and data collection, research the regional characteristics ofNanning’s traditional street space and analyze influence factors, finally, on the basis ofsummarizing space characteristics’ regulation of formation and succession underregional influence, proposing specific advice on protection of History Street,andexplore the the value of city culture.
