Landscape Design And Research On The Reconstruction Of Old Streets In Wuhan

Wuhan has a rich historical and cultural heritage, for which it was named as Historical and cultural city by the State Council in 1986. With the rapid development of the urban economy, great changes in the city have taken place. Especially in the 21t century, the fast development of modern cities has accelerated the changes in spatial distribution. However, the present situation of the old street area is troubling. Though many of the streets face the opportunity to be improved, many districts just take them as a face-saving project, lacking the consideration of the spatial distribution and conservation of the history and culture of the city. Therefore, how to reflect the city’s character while landscaping has become topics to be studied and solved. The landscape design during the old Street Area reconstruction is to probe how to raise the designing standard and improve urban quality while landscaping according to the overall layout of the urban planning.The text takes the landscape in the Street Area reconstruction as an object to study. From the development and evolution of the urban space, the transformation and distribution of the street areas and analyzing the present situation to the relationship between the geographical space environment of old streets and the space with the whole city, with the landscape design during the reconstruction of Jiqing street in Hankou as an example, the text has concluded the design concept that merges space, function ,history and culture and construction as what they used to be. In addition, the text emphasizes the details of the landscape design of reconstruction and applies the practical experience to examine suggestions and strategies to implement in landscape design.
