On-line monitoring of power equipment is the precondition of predicting maintenance, It is the key element to the reliable running of equipment, Also it is the important supplement to the traditional preventive maintenance. As one of the important equipment in the power supply system, Its operating state directly affects the stability and reliability of the power supply. With the expansion of the power system, the consumer’s requirement for quality of power energy is rising. Protection relay is the important tool that ensures safe operation of power systems and improves the quality of power energy. Under background of discussing condition based maintenance, principles of control, protection, condition monitoring of high voltage circuit breaker and its application studies are presented in this paper. The goal is to implement monitoring, diagnosis and protection integrating of high-voltage breaker into a whole system.This paper firstly presents the fundamental principle of computer protection relay and integration automation, and analysis relevant variables including analogy, switching and pulse variables. The use, classification, structure and typical fault of high voltage circuit breaker are studied. How to carry out fault-diagnosis based similarity analysis for high=voltage circuit breaker is introduced in detail too. In this paper the analysis of the maximum module based on the wavelet transform is used to detect the mutation points of high voltage circuit breaker. The vibration signal amplitude and the period of vibration are extracted as characteristic parameters to operate fault diagnosis, and the simulation verified its correctness and feasibility. Lastly the part of the design of the hardware and the software based on TMS320F2812are completed.
