In today’s manufacturing, assembly line is a common manufacturing system while its optimization problem is one of the most serious problems in assembly line design management. The problem has a direct effect on the efficiency of assembly line and the capacity of the whole manufacturing system. Compared to conventional wire-line assembly, enterprise existing assembly system develops increasingly towards to multi-branch assembly lines and the assembly line is added to more and more parallel job, so how to optimize multi-branch assembly lines with comprehensive consideration is a problem worthy of studying.This article adopts the theory of industrial engineering combined with production practice to conduct a comprehensive analysis and optimization on speed reducer assembly line of company Q. Furthermore, I also use methods of Methods Study, Work Measurement and Lean Production to optimize assembly line and select Critical Path Method (CPM) to be the main evaluation technology. The goal is to improve the capacity and the reliability of the whole assembly line, production efficiency and product quality and enable enterprises to improve the overall efficiency of the final through continuous improvement.Firstly, this paper introduces the thesis research background, significance related theory and the present situation of the research at home and abroad.Secondly, describe the current situation and existing problems of the speed reducer assembly line of company Q, investigate the scene with visualization technology and thus find the root causes of the problem by using technical analysis to its assembly process. And use the Critical Path Method (CPM) to evaluate the overall situation of the assembly line and then use Methods Study, Work Measurement and Lean Production to design the improvement scheme, optimize the technological process in order to achieve the purpose of improving equipment utilization and assembly line production.Finally, implement the improvement scheme and optimize the assembly line process. And adopt the method of the Critical Path Method (CPM) to evaluate the overall situation of the assembly line. Then compare the improvement scheme with the previous scheme and arrive at a conclusion. At last, summarize the experience and the insufficiency of this article.
