As the key component of vacuum circuit breaker, vacuum interrupter has great influence upon the breaking performance of vacuum circuit breaker, the research of vacuum interrupter performance has become an important subject in the field of vacuum circuit breaker. Breaking performance of vacuum interrupter is determined by its structure, material and the size of parts directly. Therefore, enterprises and designers paid great attention to the design, development and manufacture of vacuum interrupter. In the process of design, the designers spend a lot of energies to modify the parts size repeatedly as the parts which are the same series or same tape have almost the same structure but the size is different. As a result, the design efficiency is decreased greatly and the labor cost is increased. So the realization of parametric system design for vacuum interrupters’ parts has become an inevitable development tendency. At the same time, the continuous development of computer technology and model parameterization technology has provided the software condition for parametric design. Based on this, the parametric system for vacuum interrupters’parts is developed in this paper. The purpose is to improve the design efficiency, to shorten the development circle, and to realize efficient, rapid and accurate design of vacuum interrupter.The calculation of basic characteristic parameters of system components is a prerequisite for parametric system design. The material selection, shape design and size calculation of each vacuum interrupter’s part are analyzed and summarized respectively, and the design process of each part is elaborated in detail. At the same time, in order to guarantee the design rationality of each part and the design reliability of vacuum interrupter, the mechanical performance analysis scheme of shell, bellows, contact and conductor pole are proposed. The relationship between mechanical performance of key parts and parts size, material and other factors is explicated, the specific checking formulas for key parts’strength, thermal deformation and other mechanical performance are provided. As the dimension parameters and material are confirmed, the three-dimension model and assembly of parts are established based on SolidWorks, which provide the model library for parametric system for vacuum interrupter’s parts. Meanwhile, in order to examine the correctness of modeling results, the simulation animation of parts movement is built.At the end of the paper, design scheme of parametric system is proposed. The parametric system is divided into login module, parametric design module of parts and assembly generation module. Correspondingly, the system interface is divided into login interface, parametric design interface of parts and assembly generation interface. The system programming and interface design are implemented in the Visual Basic compiler environment. Running results indicate that the system is able to realize the quick modeling and assembling of vacuum interrupter’ parts so as the user inputting relevant parameters, and the modeling is of high accuracy and reliability.
