With the economy growing steadily, the problems of the city development, such as theincreasingly terrible traffic jams, frequent traffic accidents and accompanying trafficpollutions, have become the main problems that trouble people’s lives and the social harmony.Confronted with such severe traffic problems, the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS)arises at the historic moment. It provides services to drivers with advanced managementtechniques. As the core of ITS, the Dynamic Route Guidance System has become a hot areaof research. The problem for optimal path selection with driver’s preference is studied.The path selection is a comprehensive evaluation result of various perception propertieson road. The driver’s personal preference is introduced to the process of route guidance, andpath selection index system is proposed to reflect the personalized features of route guidancesystem. Analytic Hierarchy Process combines qualitative methods and quantitative methodsorganically, and it makes people’s thinking process mathematical and systematic. So wechoose Analytic Hierarchy Process to determine the driver’s preferences.The Route Choice is a complex system problem in route guidance system, theinformation we collect is often incomplete, and the driver’s preferences are difficultlyexpressed by language. Therefore, it is very practical that Grey System Theory be used tosolve the Route Choice problem. In the proposed path selection index system, weights arecalculated by Analytic Hierarchy Process and paths are selected by method based on GreyIncidence Decision and Multi-attribute Intelligent Grey Target Decision. It can find out theoptimal path meeting driver’s individual preferences in a set of feasible paths.In the simulation experiments, the proposed algorithms are tested. An actual network isused to simulate by VISSIM. In the experimental results the Dijkstra algorithm obtains theshortest path, the path selection algorithm based on Grey Incidence Decision andMulti-attribute Intelligent Grey Target Decision obtain the optimal path reflecting driver’spreferences. In the simulation platform, we generate a certain number of vehicles which areequipped with different algorithms, we research of different algorithms the impact to the entire network traffic. When there is a sudden emergency caused traffic congestion, thedriving speed of vehicles equiped with Dijkstra algorithm reduced greatly, on the contrary, theMulti-attribute Intelligent Grey Target Decision is able to select paths dynamically and avoidcongestion efficiently,then travel speed has not been much affected. The simulation resultsshow that the proposed path selection algorithm has good feasibility and applicability.
