Road intersection is known as the “throat” of traffic flow conversion and is alsothe place where traffic accidents occur frequently. Most road intersections are nowsignal intersections at present, which can be divided into the countdown signalintersection and non-signal intersection. Among them, the countdown signalintersection achieves control through countdown timer. Obviously it can allow thedriver to grasp the remaining time and hung message in advance or get through theintersection or stop, which therefore improves the traffic efficiency greatly. However,there are disadvantages as well, especially when it goes to the end of the red signallights or the green signal lights, part of the drivers would behave aggressively. Basedon the statements above, this dissertation has been studied the physiology, psychologyand the behavior of drivers so as to discovery something about the phenomenon.Firstly, a survey has been conducted about several risky behaviors of driversthrough questionnaires at the countdown signal intersections and non-signalintersections. It found that they work differently on drivers’ behaviors. Meanwhile apreliminary understanding is acquired through observing the behaviors of the driversat the countdown signal intersections.Secondly, according to the actual road test, we collected physiological indexes ofthree kinds of risk behaviors, analyzed the data by using HRV and Galvanic skin. Theformer acts and the latter acts are compared with the use of heart rate, galvanic skin.Meanwhile the output of the chart was analyzed in time domain and frequencydomain. The data was processed according to the intersection video, and the resultthat the economic base has a great impact on the behavior of the driver was found.Therefore driver behavior model at the countdown signal light was established basedon the economic base, and the driving behavior of each time period was modeled andanalyzed.Finally, VISSIM has been used to simulate the traffic efficiency and safety ofintersection, and it has illustrated that countdown signal light has a significant influence on the drivers and their behaviors. In turn, also effects on the intersection.The relevant conclusions are drawn by changing the ratio of the driver types and theintersection timing plans are improved.
