Study On The Influence Of Signal Light Countdown On Traffic Flow And Driving Behavior

In recent years,with the rapid development of China’s economy,there are more and more vehicles on the road,and the problem of urban traffic congestion is becoming more and more serious.With the continuous development of traffic control technology,urban road management departments have made great efforts to improve the road capacity,and the signal light countdown device has been gradually used.However,the road traffic safety act does not require the use of countdown as a device for signal light countdown.After many years of theoretical research and engineering practice,people have different opinions on the use of signal light countdown device.Therefore,based on the continuous development of information technology and the continuous increase of traffic flow,it is of great theoretical and practical significance to study the impact of signal countdown on traffic flow and driving behavior.Firstly,based on the measured data of the road,this paper studies the traffic flow characteristics of the intersection entrance with or without the countdown of signal lights.Four parameters are selected to describe the differences of traffic flow characteristics,including the speed of the place,the starting response time of the driver,the average headway and acceleration.By comparing the traffic flow characteristics of the intersection with or without signal light countdown,the comparison results of the measured data are obtained.In addition,based on the previous theoretical research and field investigation,the influencing factors of driver behavior are analyzed,such as whether it is a continuous fleet,the speed at the place 15 meters away from the stop line of the intersection,the remaining display time of signal light countdown,and whether it is an operating vehicle In the model,the behavior decision-making models of intersection with and without countdown are established and compared.At the same time,SPSS software is used to process the data and analyze the sensitivity of the significant factors.It is found that the green light countdown display 2S is the decision point of driver acceleration and deceleration behavior change.Finally,the simulation software VISSIM is used to simulate the traffic characteristics under the condition of countdown or not.The results show that the countdown of signal lights has a positive impact on improving the traffic capacity of intersections.
