Research Of Urban Public Space System For Children’s Activities In Changchun

Realty industry in China has an unexpected development In nearly10years, and the urban development put the economic interests to the first place, that lead to the destruction of the people’s living environment. Air pollution and the dehumanized urban space did do lots of harm to people’s physical and mental health，especially to children，the vulnerable group. Children are the future of the city, so the construction of good living environment for them is the top priority.There are many researches on the urban space for children’s activities, but very few of them standing in the perspective of the whole city or in the way of systematic thinking, most of the researches are on the adults ‘s perspective. This thesis attempts to take the children’s activities as the starting point to study the Urban Space Planning. According to the characteristics of children’s activities, we will draw a conception of urban public space for children’s activities. In order to improve the whole urban environment，we need to construct an urban space system—The Urban Public Space System for Children’s Activities.This thesis is based on the investigation and survey of Changchun City. We can find that the space for children‘s activities is generally neglected through the investigation and the questionnaire. It performances as follows, the humanization is ignored, the space user’s rights were unprotected, the flooding incorrect ways of consumption, the weakness of public awareness, the lack of climatic characteristics and so on. And the advantage of the whole city is the better landscape foundation and the clear planning structure.The study of the elements of the urban space system for children’s activities is based on the rule of the form of the point, line, surface, and volume: the point is as the places of activities, including the places of natural or social attribute; the line is the connection between the places, mainly consists of the slow traffic, including street and green corridor; the surface is the area of activity, composed of various places connected by the slow network. The operation of the system is the activities and communication of the children and people.We put the conceptual model of the system be applied to the urban space of Changchun. We translate the mode into specific pattern and a variety of modules. First, set the city nodes, and then connect the nodes through the slow network. The connection of the nodes forms a small system with block characteristics significantly. The relations among the adjacent small systems form the main system with obviously regional characteristics. The fast network is required for auxiliary connection between the farther nodes of the main system.According to the research of the system forming and the application exploration of The Urban Public Space System for Children’s Activities, to the urban space planning we should follow these principles: put the user’s life as the main point: reserve the personality; increase the multiple systems; keep the evolution growth; set up a harmonious environment between nature and society. So as to we can build a sustainable environmental urban space that suit to our children.
