As the city development, most of the children activity space in city has several problems, presents to be commercialization and patterned, children’s personally natural space become less and less. At the same time, children are facing bigger academic pressures than before, which leading to a serious shortage of time for outdoor activities, thus appeared a variety of physiological and psychological problems. On the other hand, the vigorous development of Chinese botanical gardens makes the botanical gardens to undertake more and more comprehensive function, but children theme design in botanical garden for children groups still exist significant gap between the international well-known botanical gardens and our botanical gardens. Based on the literature study, case study and part of the case field investigation, this paper studies children theme design methods and strategies in botanical garden. Studying the needs of children and the status quo of the botanical garden first, and then on the basis of a large number of case studies of children theme activity type in botanical garden, classify cases by content, purpose, group and time, this paper trying to study out an effective practice way and scientific thinking of children theme activities in botanical garden. On this basis, this paper summarizes the children theme design principles, strategies and methods in botanical garden. Finally, according to this article research results, this article trying to put forward the possible solution and strategies to the present situation of domestic children theme design problem in botanical garden, forecast the development trend and summary to the full.
