With the acceleration of urbanization, urban spatial structure start to transform from single center to polycentric and group urban form, and then urban rail transit line which is used for connecting different city groups emerged. Due to the characteristic of urban rail transit line that connecting the fringed group which is around the city center, the passenger flow often appears uneven phenomenon. Because of the increasing of the trip distance and travel time, the requirements of urban rail transit operation is much higher. Compared with the traditional operation, not only express/local operation can satisfied the diversity requirements of different passengers, but also can achieve the full potential of urban rail transit which is characterized by its high-speed, on time, lager-capacity, and improve the service level and the line’s attraction. Based on the analysis of the research about express/local train operation at home and abroad, the main work of this paper as follows:Firstly, Based on the analysis of typical case, this paper sums up the basic concept of express/local train operation, and it also analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of express/local train operation from the angle of passengers and operators.Secondly, Based on the polycentric and group of urban spatial structure analyzing the necessity of express/local train operation from the forming process of the long urban rail line and the increasing sharie ratio of urban rail transit.Thirdly, Not only analyzing the applicable conditions of express/local train which including traffic conditions and line conditions, but also analyzing the condition, the number of the over-taking station and the line stop form of wiring.Fourthly, Based on maximizing the saving time of passenger, establish the optimization model to optimize express/local train stop schedule plan, designing the branch-and-bound strategy which is based on breadth-first and the minimum cost priority search method.At last, On the basis of passenger flow of Chongqing metro line5, using the optimization model to obtain the stop schedule of the metro line5in the early, recent and forward time.
