In this paper, the design of the Steel Reinforced Concrete(SRC) beam and column areoptimized respectively. By building the math model of the SRC composite memembers andselecting optimal objective function, the optimal design variable can be fixed, The objectivefunction is the cost of beam and column per unit length and the constraints are choseaccording to the rules strictly. Turing the problem of project optimization into mathematicalproblem, the optimization of the SRC can be got through with writing program. I have writtenthe optimization program for the SRC beam and coclumn with the ant colony algorithm andthe genetic algorithm, which cuts down the cost both of SRC beam and coclumn. When theSRC beam and coclumn are optimized with the ant algorithm, the convergence of costinterative curve is not satisfactory. However, the convergence of cost iterative curve is betterwith the ant colony algorithm. In the paper, the design method of the SRC beams and columnoptimized through genetic algorithm are put forward. In addition, the optimal program byusing computer accomplishes optimization of the SRC composite memembers, which canaccelerate project optimization and give reference for actual engineering.
