With the rapidly development of science and technology, as the automotive powergenerating device, the complexity of engine have become higher and higher, and thedifficulty of engine’s assembly techniques have become more sophisticated. As a final partof the engine manufacturing process, assembly process plays an important role. Enginebelongs to the complex mechanical product, and the assembly process belongs to thecombination of serial and parallel multistep assembly form. In the process of assembly, theengine as a WIP (Working in Process) passed down procedure, at the same time theassembly quality of engine in products as the carrier continuously passed down, until thecompletion of the assembly activities form the final product quality.In this paper, the engine assembly process as the research object, based on the analysisof the engine assembly process, depending on the engine assembly process presentscharacteristics, explore the connotation and characteristics of the engine assembly processquality control. On the basis of the above research, combining with the actual workingcondition of engine assembly, extracting the key quality control points in determining thequality of the engine assembly, then analysis the key quality control points covered by theevaluation of attribute index, with objective quantitative evaluation as the research target,using the information entropy theory with the combination of principal component analysis(PCA) method is applied to automobile engine assembly quality evaluation, building basedon information entropy and principal component analysis comprehensive evaluation model,realized the evaluation analysis of the automobile engine assembly quality. Finally, anAutomobile Co. produced a model of four-cylinder gasoline engine assembly line as thebasis, from the perspective of engine assembly process quality forming process, developedthe engine assembly process quality control system (APQCS), and the system applied to theactual events of the engine being assembled to achieve a quality initiative to prevent engineand online control, providing technical support to improve the stability of the engineassembly quality and reliability.
