Mechanical scribing method is the only way to manufacture certain diffractiongrating of large area of high precision. Mechanical structure and control technology ofgrating ruling engine determines the size and precision of grating ruling it carvedout.Therefore, mechanical structure optimization and control system research of gratingruling engine are important technical issues to improve the performance of the grating.Positioning accuracy and scribing system motion characteristics of grating ruling engineis the main factor affecting the performance of the grating. In this paper, CAE is appliedto study mechanism and structural optimization of scribing system and structuraloptimization and control methods of indexing system, specific jobs and results are asfollows:(1) Analysis of the kinematics two kind cutter mechanism: slider-crank type andcircular turret isokinetic cam type are carried out. For their shortcomings, two schemesare proposed to achieve cutter is traveling with uniform velocity when scribing and thespeed and acceleration are continuous in the whole cycle: a cam with quinticpolynomial as the transition curve and an electronic cam. The optimized design resultsare verified from both theoretical calculations and CAE.(2) Analysis of the impact of moment of inertia of the worm gear indexing systemon transmission effect are carried out. Make a multi-objective optimization design withthe structural stiffness and moment of inertia of the worm gear as the objective function,and its structure size as design variables by the methods of Pro/E parameterizedmodeling, finite element analysis software ANSYS and the orthogonal experiment. Thenew model is made from the optimization results and analyzed, the result showed anincreased worm gear stiffness, moment of inertia of decline.(3) CAE modal analysis of the cutter bridge was carried out, then modify itsstructure for the purpose of improve the natural frequencies and reduce the maximumdisplacement of mode shapes, make the cutter bridge vibration suppression improved.(4) The models of the rod&positioning platform of macro positioning system andthe micro-positioning system are built, their response are analyzed. In order to solve theproblems that the rod&positioning platform system overshoot seriously, stabilizeslowly and micro-positioning system oscillate fiercely, parameters are modified and aloop PID controller is designed for micro-positioning system. simulation results showthat the response characteristics of the two systems can be improved.
