Floating dock is a kind of engineering ship for building and repairing. It not only can be used for build and repair, but also for salvage, transport deep-water ships through the low-water channel. The same with building dry dock, the original purpose of building a floating dock is to check and repair the underwater part of the ship, propeller, rudder and so on. Meanwhile, it is to repair and maintain the other part of the hull, ship machinery and equipment.In order to guarantee the normal and safe operation of floating dock, mooring equipment must be installed on floating dock when it suffered the attack of water, wind and wave. There are mainly two kinds of mooring form of floating dock. The first is anchor mooring, and the second is pile mooring. Compared with the anchor mooring, pile mooring has the advantages such as no influence on the zone around, no moving in the horizontal surface of floating dock, easy transport for equipment between the shore and the dock. It is applicable to waters of relatively small wave loads. The pile mooring equipment of floating dock consists of guide column and snap ring. Because of the relationship between the guide column and the snap ring, the structural scale of guide column directly affects the structural design of snap ring. Therefore, it’s particularly important to design and optimize for the structure of the guide column.In this thesis, the structural design of the pile mooring equipment makes an eight thousand tons floating dock as an example. By using the software of the finite element analysis, the value of stress and deformation of the floating dock and the pile mooring equipment is calculated when the pile mooring equipment suffered external force with three conditions of the maximum depth, the maximum force and the minimum draft. The results verify that the structural strength of the multiple sets of design plan meet the rules or not. Combined with the method of parametric modeling and the theory of structural optimization, the best design can be obtained by optimizing the optimum structural design.By analyzing the result of structural optimization of guide column, the diameter of the structure should choose a smaller size and the thickness of the shell should choose a larger size. It reduces the weight of the structure and the scale of the snap ring. Then it reduces the weight of the snap ring and the weight of the overall pile mooring equipment. It has a guiding role and reference meaning for the design and construction of the pile mooring equipment of floating dock in the future.
