As an effective solution for relieving the environment and energy pressure, energy-saving and new energy vehicles have been studied for more than decade. After more than ten years of development and study, the world’s automakers and scholars have presented the vigorous development momentum and continuously extended different research directions. As a type of new-energy vehicle, electric vehicle has attracted widespread attention because of its no emission and no fossil fuels consumption. However, its price and cost remains high. Besides, its low battery energy density and limited driving range restrict its development. According to these restrictions, a new transitional type, Extended-Range Electric Vehicle (E-REV), comes into being. The E-REV has the same power source like other electric vehicle, which is the battery. The difference is that E-REV also equips with range extender, followed by the calculation issue of power-train parameters, especially the problem how to match the battery and range extender. This subject is mainly about choosing, calculating and matching the power-train parameters for a specific type of E-REV under the premise of vehicle parameter and performance indicators. The aim is to meet the requirements of vehicle parameters and reduce the energy consumption and emission.First of all, this subject introduces the concepts of E-REV and analyses the current research situation of E-REV;s development and matching skills about power-train system.Secondly, based on vehicle technical indicators of power, economic and driving range performance, calculate the parameters of driving motor, battery and range extender by considering the indicators of road condition and vehicle parameters. Thereby make the matching results of power-train system meet technical indicators in theory.Then, establish the model of E-REV by CRUISE of AVL corporation, taking advantage of its convenience in simulating vehicles’power performance, economic performance and emission performance. By running the model based on the matched parameters, we can see the performance results under specific cycles.At last, build a test platform and do the tests including economic performance and driving range performance on it according to the national standards. By simulating the real vehicle running condition, this subject proved the match effect and optimized the matched parameters further.
