Centrifugal compressors play an extremely important role in the aerospace, energy, chemical, metallurgy and other fields. As a reason of that, our country continued to increase researches about it in recent years. Efficient and stable operation of the machine ensures the rationalization of centrifugal compressor and reduces production costs. Because of the important role of the centrifugal compressor in industrial production, all companies are continually optimizing it to improve the efficiency. The gas chamber, which is one necessary part of the stationary parts in compressor, has no doubt that in a pivotal position. A reasonable compressor inlet chamber design and the uniformity of the inlet compressor efficiency are two kinds of important guarantees. Currently, the compressor inlet chamber loss is about5%-15%on the market. For this reason, compressor inlet chamber design has greatly improved space.In this paper, we use a company’ s compressor inlet chamber model, which needs improved, to study. We use numerical simulation in order to achieve the compressor transformation. In this paper, we fulfill the3D modeling with the software Pro/E, use IGG and Auto/Grid5to mesh the model. And we also calculate the model with software Fine/Turbo. On the last step, we analyze the results with software CF-view. After that, we improve the inlet chamber from two aspects:the top of inlet chamber and the inlet of the chamber. The improved results are obvious. After simulation, we found that the efficiency of the improved model increases6percent more than the original model and the uniformity of the inlet chamber was greatly enhanced.Intake chamber model improved in this paper will be filled between the compressor stages. This model will be extended to all centrifugal compressor inlet chamber design. This approach would greatly reduce the operating costs of the machine and make compressor products more competitive on the market.
