As the main load-bearing structure of large truck, girder structure bear the full weight of vehicle’s transporting goods. In moving process, the girder structure will bear the bending moments and shear forces which from bending and shear loads. At the same time, It is also affected by the vibration from the ground and the engine. Therefore, the performance of the girder structure will directly affect the carrying capacity of large truck.In this paper, based on a big truck’s girder structure, by using topology optimization and finite element analysis methods, solve the main problem of insufficient stiffness of the girder structure. Firstly, the finite element model in shell elements is established, and three kinds of conditions’ loads and constraints was applied. The girder structure’s stiffness calculated finite element analysis and verify the stiffness of the frame is comply with the design requirements, and find the shortage. Then, using Hypermesh software to establish topology optimization modal. According to the results of the calculations, combines the demands of the production process, a new modal was designed. The new structure and original structure was compared in the same condition.The results show that after topology optimization not only increase the overall performance of girder structure, but also reduced structure’s weight and make stress distribution more uniform. These results validates topology optimization is scientific and reliable. The successfully used of topology optimization technique show that this technique has a reasonable and superiority in design an optimization process. This is not only at the theoretical level of knowledge of the relevant literature enrich and expand, but also provide a reference to some automotive companies when they design big trucks.
