Automotive connectors are widely used for electrical connections and signal communications in automotive electronic systems, which performance relate to the reliability of the entire system. Automotive connectors are frequently affected by vibration and impact in the process of moving vehicle. Reliability of connector is affected due to these excitations. In this thesis, dynamic performance of connector under vibration environment is researched by the way of simulation and experiment. The main research contents of this thesis are as follows:Firstly, automotive connectors working environment, structure and material properties are analyzed. Combined with the research achievements at home and abroad, the influencing factors of the reliability in the automobile connector are summarized. Then, models of contact resistance and failure mechanisms of automotive connector are discussed based on electrical contact theory. According to Automotive Connectors working environment, the performance of contact pressure and relative displacement between pairs are studied under vibration conditions.Secondly, a model of a connector is established to study by using the finite element method. Contact pressure, natural frequencies, vibration modes and the change of contact pressure and relative motion between contact pairs under different vibration excitations are obtained after structure, modal and transient dynamic analysis. The results showed that, the fluctuation of contact pressure and relative motion are affected by amplitude and frequency, and frequency is the major factor. Contact pressure is mainly cause by vertical vibration. And relative motion is mainly caused by horizontal vibration. There is an upper frequency limit, when the frequency of vibration exceeds it, which can lead to large fluctuations in contact pressure or connector separation. At last, a simulation experimental scheme is designed according to the actual working condition of the automobile connector. Changes in the contact resistance of the vibration loads are monitored and surface morphology are observed and analyzed. The results further indicated that the vertical vibration can cause fluctuations in the connector contact resistance and wear and tear occurred in horizontal vibration.
