Rapid economic development on the one hand greatly improves people’s living standards, it also brings serious traffic problems, because of the increasing of vehicle volume. As the cutting-edge topics in the research of traffic management at home and abroad, core aim of the intelligent parking management system is to ease the current pressure on the increasingly serious traffic, to reduce the over-exploitation of fuel resources and to protect the survival environment of human. Because traditional parking lot has single function and be inefficient, it cannot meet the parking needs of the majority. Therefore, developing the intelligent building of parking lot around the city plays a vital role in improving the traffic management of the whole city.In this paper, research and design work of the intelligent parking management system is carried out. First of all, according to the functional requirements for parking of people nowadays, we design a configuration of the overall system and analysis hardware devices for parking detection, for information collection and display, for data storage and for lighting. Also we judge the department of software technical support. Then, starting with the license plates recognition and parking detection technical, we design the parking system model by determining the exact status of parking spaces, and on this basis, we carry out the research of parking guidance. Method in searching the shortest path based on Dijkstra algorithm is improved, which advances the smart service level and raises the operational efficiency of parking system. Real-time and reliability can be guaranteed by using the database for its powerful data processing capabilities. Finally, with an integrated development environment of visual studio2010, we design a complete set of intelligent parking management system on PC platform using MFC and ADO technical. The software has a beautiful interface, which is easy to operate with full functionality. The system offers convenience for parking users and improves efficiency and security for parking management.Our research uses a combination of image processing, Dijkstra algorithm, data processing and storage, control and detection technology, etc. The designed system not only enables users to park quickly and conveniently and to manage efficiently and safely for administrators, but also can ease the traffic pressure of cities and make efforts to build a harmonious society.
