In winter, removing the ice-snow of the road is not only the main task of theDepartment in Charge of the Traffic in each country, but also one of the problems ofscientific research departments. Ice-snow on the road will reduce the friction between theroad and the vehicle tires; lengthen the distance of the braking Pedestrian standinginstability; and let pedestrians stand instability, which caused serious impact and greatlosses to the national economy. What’s more, in the northern of our country, the winter islong and the frequency of snow is high. If the ice-snow of the road couldn’t be cleaned uptimely, it will become hard compacted after the stampede of pedestrians and vehiclesrolling so that the general snow shovels are not able to clear the road. Therefore,strengthening the study mechanical of ice-snow removal and exploring new solutions forice-snow–breaking turned into scientific problems and technical difficulties that are urgentto be solved. This issue has a very important meaning.Based on the study the characteristics of snow and ice, combined with the mechanicalcharacteristics of ice-snow-breaking and referenced the theory of speed icebreaking, theway to break the ice-snow of vertical shaft peeling has been put forward in this paper. Themain contents of this paper are as follows:(1) The physical properties of compacted snow and ice on the road.In the paper, the experiment on the physical and mechanical performance of the iceand snow (mainly included the shear strength and density of snow and ice) has beencarried on. And experimental data were summary and analysis and established foundationfor the research of ice-breaking mechanism.(2) The study of researching vertical peeling mechanism.This paper describes the ice-breaking theory of vertical peeling, finds the matchbetween the forward speed and the peeling speed and introduces the structuralcharacteristics and assembly methods of the icebreaking wheel. What’s more, it carried outthe force analysis between the icebreaking cutter tooth and the pavement which is coveredby ice and snow. Finally,given the results of the minimum power for the ice-snow breakerduring normal operation.(3) The development of ice-breaking device of vertical peeling.The performance parameters and the overall structure for vertical peeling ice breaker whose chassis is wheeled loader are summarized. The key components were calculated andchecked. Furthermore, the hydraulic diagram of wheeled loader is improved so that itcould provide power for the ice breaker under the premise to meet its needs.(4) The experiments on small ice-snow-breaking machine of vertical peeling.To test the effect of icebreaking and get the key parameters when the device isworking, a small vertical peeling machine of icebreaking has been developed. On one hand,rigid coupling analysis for icebreaking cutter was carried on to verify the material strengthof the icebreaking cutter in the dynamic simulation software ADAMS and finite elementanalysis software ANSYS. On the other hand, small vertical peeling machine oficebreaking was produced and the icebreaking test has been done on the40mm ofcompacted snow and10mm artificial frozen pure ice road to get the parameters of verticalspeed, axial force and force value relationship between the icebreaking cutter and the roadwhich is covered with ice and snow. The results obtained from the test match with thetheoretical part of the text. And from the icebreaker effect of physical prototype, the smallvertical peeling machine of icebreaking meets the actual requirements. It also indirectlydemonstrates the correctness of the ice-breaking theory of vertical peeling.
