Effective control of engineering cost in the design of building structure, is a common goal that the government, enterprises and the owners want to achieve, which can promote the development of China’s construction market healthily and sustainably. As a type of new design model, it has gain great attention from designers home and abroad. Therefore, this paper combines theoretical research with case analysis and focuses on the study of the reinforced concrete structures, the specific research contents are as follows:1. The theoretical analysis of the project cost control theory and a review of the research on project cost control and building structure design, which provides a relevant theoretical basis for practical case study of the projects.2. When the effect of the main structural design on engineering cost is studies, the coefficient of perimeter Kz is introduced to analyze the planar shape layout. According to the theoretical analysis, the more simple, regular and symmetrical the graphic layout is, the less cost of the construction materials and projects are. Meanwhile, the smaller the coefficient of perimeter Kz is, the more we can save for the construction cost of the projects.3. The study of the construction design for the independent foundation and slab raft foundation, as well as the composite foundation and pile foundation, based on the practical case study of the projects. The research shows that, the independent foundation plus anti water in the form of a plate is much better than the flat raft foundation and composite foundation in either the maximum settlement, building material or the construction cost. Compared with pile foundation, it is also better in construction period, safer, and saving more money.4. A comparative study is also made on two kinds of irregular main structure program and two types of extremely irregular main structures program. The results show that, taking the rationality of the structure design and the cost of the projects into consideration, in the structure design schemes, we should minimize the number of irregular structures or reduce the number of irregular structures, which leads to the improvement of the structure performance, and the reduction of the cost of main structure.
