Steel plate shear wall will be affected by non-uniform vertical compression during use. Setting vertical stiffeners can improve the critical load of the steel plate shear wall. In this paper, the elastic buckling analysis on steel plate shear wall stiffened by vertical stiffeners and multi-stiffeners under non-uniform compression is carried out using FEM, including the following parts:(1) The threshold rigidity parameters of the vertical stiffeners, which is the demarcation of global buckling and local panel buckling of the stiffened shear wall, are obtained under the pure bending compression stress at first. The vertical stiffener is a kind of tube which is comprised of two steel channels on both sides of the steel plate. The torsional rigidity of stiffeners is considered. Approximate formulas are proposed to calculate the threshold rigidity parameters of the stiffeners, which are reasonably conservative. The results reveal that the threshold rigidity parameter increases with the number of the stiffeners and decreases with the ratio of flexural to torsional rigidities of the stiffeners and the panel width-to-height ratio.(2) The non-uniform stress distribution factor is introduced, which implies the non-uniform compression stress. The curves relating compressive buckling stresses to the rigidities of stiffeners are obtained, from which the threshold rigidity parameters of the stiffener are also obtained. According to the non-uniform stress distribution factor of each part of the steel plate, the threshold rigidity parameters are divided into three groups and approximate formulas are proposed for each group. the threshold rigidity parameter increases with the number of the stiffeners and decreases with the ratio of flexural to torsional rigidities of the stiffeners, the panel width-to-height ratio and the non-uniform stress distribution factor.(3) Setting horizontal stiffener can reduce the threshold rigidity parameter of vertical stiffener. The multi-stiffened plate is studied. The horizontal threshold rigidity parameters are obtained according to the given vertical threshold rigidity parameters. Approximate formulas are proposed which is suitable for construction project. Some suggestions of setting multi-stiffeners are given for construction project.(4) Steel-concrete shear wall performances well in earthquake. The steel of the shear wall is a steel plate which is node-constrained in the web of the plate. The buckling of the steel plate is analyzed by FEM and it is affected by the interval of the node-constrained.
