With the development and progress of the society, the automotive industry hasgained rapid development. At the same time, competition among car companies hasbecome increasingly fierce, which needs more and more automotive professionals.High quality automotive service technology is an integral part of the sustainabledevelopment of the automotive business. In recent years, in order to improve theoverall level of service technicians and increase the level of personnel’s professionaland technical service, major auto companies have been attaching great importance totraining programs, including increasing financial input.This paper develops a training system for engine fault diagnosis based on virtualreality, combining with2D、3D and virtual demonstration, which is different fromtraditional forms of training methods. The three-dimensional model in this paperincludes the model about sports scene, the model about engine components, the modelabout vehicle body and the model about professional tools. Then this paper dividesmodels by their accuracy, analysis modeling software and transform model format.This paper analysis the concept of fault trees、fault tree construction andprinciple. This paper establishes the fault tree according to the instance that the enginecannot start and analysis of the fault tree quantitatively. This paper conducts sevendivision according to structure importance and probability importance degree and keyimportance, then optimizes the design of fault diagnosis process according tomulti-objective decision-making theory and fuzzy logic thinking.This has finishes development of virtual training system for fault diagnosis. Inthe process of system implementation, this paper gives technical implementation routeaccording to anonymous fault point settings, interface design and fault diagnosismodule. This paper also plans symptom implementation and achieves detectionequipment connection in a virtual environment through detection between testinginstruments. Test results output about parameter, fault code and waveform is achieved.The demonstration about parts inspection, parameters and working principle isachieved by editing parts in Virtools environment.Consider of fault diagnosis process and training model under the realisticconditions, in this paper, the entire troubleshooting process is divided into fourmodules. Through the introduction of specific examples, this paper explains theoperation of the entire system.
